Financing
Governmental support is provided through two film foundations established under the Cinema Law of 2001, providing up to 60% of the budget of an Israeli film. The Cinema Law also applies to films made by an Israeli film company in co-production with other countries under an official co-production treaty and will include films made in English. Israeli broadcasters are legally obligated to invest in local film production. Films made in Israel therefore benefit from government funding as well as enhanced television licensing fees. This applies equally to co-productions in English .

Education
There are more than 8 internationally recognized film schools in Israel. The Sam Spiegel Film School in Jerusalem is considered one of the top rated film schools worldwide and has been awarded “ Best Film School in the World” 13 times in 15 years of existence. Other film schools include Tel Aviv University, Ma’aleh, Hadassah College, Sapir College, Beit Berl, Camera Obscura and The Bezalel Academy
Moreover, Israel is one of the only countries in the world operating a formal curriculum of film studies in schools. Courses are taught in 400 high schools to 10,000 students annually and involve both a theoretical and practical program. This is having an extraordinary effect on the available talent pool for film schools as well as the popularity of film in Israel .
